National Day 2023
On 13 and 14 March 2023, the Apostolic Nunciature celebrated the National Day of the Holy See, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the election of Pope Francis.
This year, due to the particular solemnity of the occasion, the National Day was celebrated on two separate evenings. On 13 March, the day of the Holy Father's election, the Catholic community in Kuwait gathered in the Holy Family Co-Cathedral for a solemn Mass of thanksgiving. Priests, religious sisters, and representatives of parishes and Catholic associations in Kuwait were present at the celebration. The leaders of the other Christian denominations also attended to express their closeness to Pope Francis and the Apostolic Nunciature.
The following evening, on 14 March, the traditional official reception was opened to the members of the diplomatic corps and the friends of the Apostolic Nunciature. His Excellency Mr. Mohammad Yaqoub Hayati, Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented the Government of Kuwait at the event. The evening marked an auspicious occasion to reaffirm the good relations that exist between the Holy See and the State of Kuwait and the hope for ever greater cooperation.
